The Public Theatre is proud to present the New England Premiere of The Language Archive, a wise and whimsical comedy about love, marriage and miscommunication playing Jan 27 - Feb 5. “We’re thrilled to be one of the first professional theatres in the country to produce this play since its New York debut”, says Artistic Director Christopher Schario. “We fell in love with this show when we saw it in New York, and we believe our audience will fall in love with it as well. If you’ve ever been married, or in a relationship, or suffered from unrequited love, I guarantee you will see yourself in this play, laugh at yourself in this play, and probably have a fascinating conversation on the way home.”

A CHRISTMAS CAROL returns to The Public Theatre!

This holiday season, for one weekend only, Dec 9, 10, and 11th, The Public Theatre, Lewiston/Auburn's Professional Theatre Company, will present their acclaimed adaptation of A Christmas Carol followed by Silent Night - a holiday sing–a-long featuring Christmas Carol fiddler Jennifer Armstrong. The Public Theatre’s own version of Dickens' classic has become a favorite holiday tradition in Lewiston/Auburn. This inventive adaptation, performed by six actors and a fiddler, was developed and written for The Public Theatre by Artistic Director Christopher Schario in 1993, and has since been published by Dramatists Play Service and is now regularly performed by theatres around the world.

The Public Theatre's professional Summer Theatre Training Program for Teens performs August 5th

The Public Theatre’s professional theatre training program for teens will perform Where the Sidewalk Ends ... Imagination Begins, an assortment of Shel Silverstein poems with added songs on Friday, August 5th at 6pm. Featuring an auditioned and hand-picked group of twelve students ranging from ages 10 to 15, these young thespians have been hard at work for the past three weeks taking daily classes in stage combat, voice and speech, singing and the fundamentals of acting. The Public Theatre’s summer intensive program is a unique alternative to other “drama camps”, as it is taught exclusively by theatre professionals, offering professional insights and standards.
