Over 1,500 students from various schools throughout Maine will be attending The Pubic Theatre’s acclaimed adaptation of A Christmas Carol. “We’re very excited to be able to introduce so many students to this wonderful story, as well as having the honor of giving many of them their first experience attending a professional theatre”, says Artistic Director Christopher Schario. Along with its regularly scheduled performances of A Christmas Carol for the general public on Dec 7, 8, and 9th, The Public Theatre offers additional student matinee performances as part of its educational outreach programming at the affordable price of only $5 per ticket. This reduced ticket rate ticket is made possible by the generous support of foundations and local businesses.

“We love developing the theatergoers of tomorrow and giving them a memory that will hopefully last a lifetime”, says Schario. Quality productions featuring professional Equity actors from New York and New England, and post-show discussions featuring the actors and the director offer students an exceptional artistic experience as well as the unique opportunity to interact with the people who created the performance. Free detailed Study Guides prepared by Professor Martin Andrucki of Bates College are available in advance of each production and student get the chance to discuss the production after seeing it with the director, professional actors and author.

Performances of A Christmas Carol for the general public will be held on Dec 7th at 7pm and Dec 8th at 2pm and 7pm and Sunday Dec 9th at 2pm.
