2016 Summer Program Students 0407

The Public Theatre’s Professional Theatre Training Program for Teens will present their Final Performance of stories with added songs on Friday, July 29th at 6pm.

The Public Theatre has officially begun its professional theatre training program for young actors. Featuring an auditioned and hand-picked group of 11 students ranging from ages 10 to 15, these young thespians travel daily to The Public Theatre from as far away as Wilton to participate in this exciting program taught by theatre professionals.

Daily classes include stage combat, voice and speech, and singing as well as a master acting class where they are taught the fundamentals of acting.  The Public Theatre’s summer intensive program is a unique alternative to other “drama camps”. >> read more

Public Theatre Artistic Director Christopher Schario states, “We keep our focus on developing the skills necessary to become a good actor.  Although there will ultimately be a final performance piece, the goal of the piece is to showcase the skills they are learning, and reinforce a new way to think about performing.”

Schario says, “It’s a wonderful sight to see these very talented and passionate young students catching fire and discovering a new way to think about theatre and themselves.” For more information call The Public Theatre at 782-3200.

The presentation, which is free of charge and open to the public, will take place on Friday July 29th, at 6pm at The Public Theatre. For more information call 782-3200.  The Public Theatre is located at 31 Maple St, in downtown Lewiston.
