A hip and hilarious musical for children at The Public Theatre!

November 11, 2010

This year, The Public Theatre will be producing a show to specifically serve young audiences and their families. Featuring professional actors and the usual high artistic quality people expect, The Public Theatre will produce a hip and hilarious original musical adaptation of The Three Little Pigs perfect for children Pre-K thru 5th grade and their families Nov 14-19.

This little piggy likes Facebook... This little piggy likes shopping... This little piggy likes homework... Which little piggy will escape the big bad wolf and choose the strongest foundation for her life and home? An entertaining lesson about the dangers of choosing style over substance, the story features three sassy pigs, two of whom enjoy shopping at Calvin Swine and going to Stybucks, and one little piggy who enjoys doing her homework and aspires to be an architect. Director Janet Mitchko promises that this will be a clever and entertaining production guaranteed to leave you squealing with delight!

Also new this year, The Public Theatre is introducing a YOUTH PRICED TICKET which will allow any child under the age of 18 to attend ANY PERFORMANCE at The Public Theatre, Lewiston/Auburn's Professional Theatre, for only $5! As school budgets continue to shrink, The Public Theatre is committed to providing affordable access to the Arts. Keeping professional theatre affordable will hopefully enable and encourage teachers, parents and grandparents to introduce their children to the cultural life of their community, and the magical experience of attending live theatre.

Celebrating its 20th anniversary, The Public Theatre is a professional Equity theatre founded with the mission of producing Broadway quality theatre for the people of Maine at an affordable price. Nationally recognized for its artistic excellence, The Public Theatre produces uplifting and provocative theatre featuring the finest professional actors from New York to Los Angeles.

The 3 Little Pigs will hold two performances on Sunday Nov 14th at 1pm and 3pm. Tickets are $5 for children and $10 for adults. Additional weekday matinee performances will be held for schools, groups, and individuals Monday-Friday, Nov 15-19 at 9:30am. An 11:30 show will be added on Tuesday Nov 16th. Reservations are required for the weekday matinee performances. For more information visit www.thepublictheatre.org. Call 782-3200 for tickets.
